My Testimony of Healing from the Spirit & Truth Conference

Reckless Love…

My story begins with the words of the song Reckless Love by Cory Asbury: “overwhelming, never ending, reckless love of God… chases me down, fights till I’m found, leaves the 99…”.  I was lost but didn’t know it. I prayed; I sang my praise and worship song; I read my devotionals and went to church, but I was not speaking to others about my faith and I was no longer growing in my faith. I have spent the past 20 years reading, and studying the bible, going to conferences, listening to Christian music and consequently I grew rapidly. In the beginning, my friends, family and coworkers all heard about the things I learned about God and how he works in our lives, but some time in the past couple of years I just stopped sharing my faith. It became a quiet little faith.

 Just me and God.

Last March I attended the three-day Spirit & Truth conference which was hosted by my church. I had no big desire to go, but my friend really wanted to go, so I signed up with her. I didn’t know anything about Spirit & Truth and didn’t know what to expect. It turned out to be a life changing weekend filled with many God moments.

We arrived early but the church was already full of folks from all over the country.  We had to sit in the third row. Way too close to the front for me! I much rather sit in the back. We settled in and the conference got started.  During the first break a man sitting in the row in front of us turned around and asked if either of us had Fibromyalgia. We both shook our heads no. A little later, he turned around again and introduced himself as a Pastor from Oklahoma and looked at me, and said “Does your right shoulder hurt? I feel like I’m supposed to pray for you.” Once again, I shook my head no. He said, “That’s funny, I really feel like I should pray for you.”

I never admit that I need prayer. I’m the one that prays for other people, not the other way around.  As I sat there, I thought about him and realized I did need prayer. Three years ago, I fell and tore my right rotator cuff.  I had surgery and my shoulder has full range of motion, but it hurts. It constantly hurts and every day tasks are difficult but it’s something I’ve learned to live with. At the end of the first night, I tapped him on the shoulder and admitted that I did need prayer for my right shoulder.

He and his wife laid hands on my right shoulder and prayed. As they prayed, I felt heat from his hand, go through my shoulder, and all the way down my right side! After praying, his wife asked if I felt anything, I reported that I was feeling heat. She said “Good! God is working, your shoulder is being healed.” That same heat stayed with me all night long, even while I slept. My tendons were really being knit back together! God knew what he was doing when he made me sit so close to the front.

The next morning at the conference, the pastor from Oklahoma and his wife asked about my shoulder. I told them about the continued heat. They wanted to pray again. They laid hands on me again and prayed. This time I felt a bolt of electricity flow from his hands to my shoulder and down the whole right side. My shoulder was completely healed! No pain at all! His wife turned my hands over and made the sign of the cross on each one and said, “your hands have been anointed for healing, go and use it.”

God chased me down and healed me. Since then I have told everyone about my shoulder being healed. I have signed up for classes on healing and will use this new gift everywhere I go. I’m not sure what God has in-store for me, but I am open and willing to obey. I’m so glad I went to the Spirit & Truth Conference!
