What is the Order of the Holy Fire?
The Order of the Holy Fire is a covenant community of those called to vocational ministry in service to the church. Our fundamental aim is learning to dwell in the presence of God and inviting others to be set ablaze with the flame of the Holy Spirit. We share a lifestyle that gives God the space to make us holy, the structure to make our ministry sustainable, and locates us within a community where we bear witness to the inbreaking of the kingdom of God. Our Commitments:
Growing in humility and holiness: becoming like Christ in my perspective, priorities and posture toward others.
Participating in community: standing face to face and shoulder to shoulder with my siblings in the Order on our journey toward Christlikeness.
Pursuing a life rooted in God’s truth: anchoring my life and ministry upon the Word of God as it has been handed down to us through the great tradition of the Church.
Living empowered by the Spirit: pursuing the continual filling of the Holy Spirit, who is the giver of life and the only source of true power by which we can serve.
Obedience to the end: spending the rest of my days laying my life upon the altar as a holy and living sacrifice.
How does the Order of the Holy Fire stay connected?
Annually: Each year the Order holds a retreat in February. A retreat center is chosen that is beautiful, restful, and accessible to a major airport so that pastors from around the country can easily come. Our next retreat is in Phoenix, Arizona on February 23-26, 2026.
Monthly: Each year at the annual retreat, small groups of 4-5 members are selected for the following year. These groups meet once per month via Zoom for mutual accountability and prayer.
Friendships: Beyond the more formal monthly and annual commitments, the Order of the Holy Fire is a network of friendships. One of the purposes of this Order is building real relationships with like-hearted ministry leaders who we can call for wisdom, prayer, or just to laugh together. These relationships develop organically within the group and have proven to be life-giving for all involved.

If you haven’t done so yet, stop and pray. This is not a casual group that you just sign up for like a conference or event. Everyone who joins the Order of the Holy Fire does so out of a deep conviction and desire to orient their life and ministry around these commitments. You should only apply if you sense the Holy Spirit leading you to do so.
Review the handbook available to download below and then fill out the application. Everyone who joins the Order starts with this application to help the group get to know you better. The handbook outlines the remaining steps of the process. (Note: You are welcome to apply, explore the Order by meeting in a small group for a time, and use that as a season of discernment about whether this is an intentional community to which you feel called to commit. In other words: discern, apply, and then feel free to try it on for size.)
