Online Studies

Have you ever read a book on ministry or theology and wished you could sit down with the author to ask some questions? Or maybe you have wondered what it would be like to dig deep into the scriptures alongside an actual Bible scholar? Now you can do just that. Multiple times a year the Spirit & Truth Institute will be offering online discussion groups around key ministry books and Bible studies that culminate in a live video discussion with anointed and highly-skilled ministry leaders.

Scripture and the Life of God with Dr. David Watson

Guided Reading and Discussion - June 2019
Live online dialogue with Dr. Watson - Wednesday, July 10, 2019, 7:00-9:00pm

In Scripture and the Life of God, David Watson takes us on a journey through what it means to enter into the life of God through texts that God has inspired and made authoritative for the teaching of the Church. Many of us read the Bible during private devotion time, and this is a very helpful practice, but there are also many other ways to walk down the pathway of Scripture into the divine life. Prayer, meditation, music, corporate worship, and other practices facilitate the work of the Holy Spirit through Scripture in drawing us into the divine life. If you want to engage with Scripture more deeply and share in discussion with others who desire the same, this online study is for you.

  • Participants will purchase Scripture and the Life of God on their own and begin reading in June 2019

  • A suggested reading schedule and online forum for guided discussion will be provided so you can interact with others in this study

  • The study will culminate with a two-hour online video discussion with the author, Dr. David Watson on July 10, 2019

  • No cost beyond purchasing book; registration required

This study is currently already underway, check back soon for the next online study opportunity.

Check out these upcoming workshops:

Once & Future Methodism with Dr. Scott Kisker

Saturday, June 22, 2019, 9:00am-4:00pm
at Stillwater Church (
6911 Frederick Pike, Dayton, OH)

The dynamic history and identity of Methodism is lost among the pluralistic landscape in America today. "Real Methodism declined because we replaced those peculiarities that made us Methodist with a bland, acceptable, almost civil religion, barely distinguishable from other traditions," writes Dr. Scott Kisker in his book Mainline or Methodist. So...where do go from here? This workshop examines the historical hallmarks of the dynamic Methodist movement with an eye towards reclaiming those hallmarks in our own day.

  • Participants are recommended to read Mainline or Methodist by Dr. Scott Kisker prior to arriving at the workshop

  • Workshop will include a full-day of learning, worship and dialogue with Dr. Kisker

  • No cost unless purchasing CEU credit; pre-registration required

  • 1/2 CEU credit available through United Theological Seminary for a $20 fee
